LECTURES

Lecture 6 | Final Project Briefing

Utilising the data collected from their research, students are to produce visual design outcomes that reflect their interpretation and definition of "Framing", bearing in mind to consider cultural and aesthetic aspects, balanced with their design knowledge. Various direction and approaches can be engaged in, such as experimental design with the use of manual, digital, or the combination of both media.

PROJECT 3 | FINAL PROJECT

For the final project, our group has decided to compile the series of sketches we've made during the data collection week into one big Ukiyo-E x Yami Kawaii projection map design.

FEEDBACK

The feedback from the presentation was overwhelmingly positive. The lecturers found that our final design was effective in representing our interpretation of the subculture. The only comment they have is for the final output to have more flow to leave a bigger impact on the audience.

REFLECTION

The key takeaway I got from this project is how important having an open mind to other culture is. Take for example our first idea for the final design, having our tarot cards idea rejected gave me an insight into making sure that the rationale on a design is solid enough to support the use of any components in the design. It was interesting to go through the process of breaking down elements of a sub-culture, making sense of their principles, and seeing how it can be promoted to better spread the word of their intentions.
